The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZIMPARKS) has received a major boost in its anti-poaching operations after the Gonarezhou Conservation Trust donated vehicles for the exercise.
In a bid to support ZIMPARKS against poachers, the Gonarezhou Conservation Trust has donated three Toyota land cruisers for use in anti-poaching operations.
The director of Gonarezhou Conservation Trust, Hugo Van der Westhuizen spoke on the need for unity of purpose in the anti-poaching drive.
“The trust is deeply saddened by the loss of wildlife by poachers,” said he said.
Zimparks Director General, Mr Fulton Mangwanya said the vehicles have come at the right time when they have scaled up anti-poaching operations.
“We will definitely use these vehicles nicely as they will go a long way in our operations,” said mr Mangwanya.
The Zimbabwe anti-poaching drive continues to gain traction after the country recovered 1 000 kilograms of ivory early this year.
