The SADC Secondary School Essay Competitions are held annually and the best three entries in each country battle it out with other students in the 14 member regional body.

The aim of the competition is to provide a platform for students in the region to express their views on issues concerning development.

The students also contribute to the socio-economic development of their countries and the region at large by giving ideas that can be incorporated into the countries’ development plans.
