“It will take place three times a year, that is in December, April and August.
” Four bands will compete in each instalment of the Jazz Bands Battle for a slot in the Zimbabwe Jazz Festival 2020 as well as an opportunity to be on the Back2Jazzics roaster during the course of the year and in addition a live recording deal,” said Marova.
A total of three bands will be selected from these battles and they will also be presented with an opportunity to be better recognised and mentored.
“They will be featured on the country’s largest jazz platform, The Zimbabwe Jazz Festival,” he said.
Supported by the Zimbabwe Jazz Community Trust, the initiative is a result of the overwhelming demand for Back2Jazzics slots by upcoming and seasoned jazz, musicians following 3 successful years of hosting Back2Jazzics every Sunday and witnessing new stars emerge every week.
