More than six schools and two clinics are expected to benefit from the 2017 Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) assistance week programme.
The Minister of Defence, Dr Sydney Sekeramayi is expected to launch the programme at Katema clinic in Gokwe, making the clinic one of the beneficiaries of the 2017 ZDF assistance week programme.
A medical outreach providing free medical, surgical, dental and pharmaceutical assistance will be offered to the community.
The community assistance week is expected to run from the 7th to the 11th of August this year.
Through this programme, the ZDF highlights assistance rendered to needy communities in appreciation of their invaluable support to the organisation.
Major highlights of the community assistance week for this year include projects handover to Himango Secondary School in Bulilima on 03 August 2017, Chasiyatende Clinic in Chivi on 10 August 2017, Sally Mugabe Primary School in Kwekwe on 11 August 2017, Chikukutu Primary School in Bikita on 01 august 2017 and Mukume Secondary School in Mwenezi on 18 August 2017, among others.
The community assistance week is an annual programme that has seen the ZDF carrying out a number of developmental projects that benefit communities.
The free medical outreach has also benefited vulnerable groups, a development that has fostered relations between the military and civilians.
