The Minister of Small to Medium Enterprises, Cde Sithembiso Nyoni has challenged women in farming to be proactive and united so as to unlock business opportunities available in the farming sector.
Speaking at a women farming meeting held in Bulawayo, Minister Nyoni said women the world over who are united have made significant progress compared to those who are disjointed.
The women who came from Matabeleland North Province said they would like the Lupane State University to come in handy with research programs for those involved with agricultural activities so they can maximise their knowledge of farming.
In response Cde Nyoni said it is indeed a good idea for rural women to enhance their knowledge through the university and she will lobby the responsible authorities to take them into consideration.
The minister also encouraged the women to form credit corporations as they help in increasing their funds which they can later on lend amongst themselves for the growth of their businesses.
