Women who excelled in various fields have been honoured for their efforts at a colourful ceremony held in Harare.

24 women drawn from sectors such as health, media, philanthropy and gospel music were honoured for their works.

Founder of Iconic African Woman Awards, Reverend Faithful Mutibvu said women play a pivotal role in the society and should be recognised all the time.

“The idea of iconic women came to me after I had seen many woman going unnoticed,” Reverend Mutibvu.

Guest speaker at the event and Ecocash CEO, Natalie Jabangwe said there are a number of unsung heroines who have done big things in life and who should be recognised.

“We have unsung heroines and we need to identify and award them,” Jabangwe said.

It was than all smiles for the women who received various awards.

Some of the people who received awards include musician Olivia Charamba, journalist Victoria Ruzvidzo, Mrs Ruth Makandiwa, Chipo Marimba and female footballer Rudo Neshamba (pictured).
