A warrant of arrest has been issued against former minister Ignatius Chombo after he failed to appear at the Harare Magistrate court this Wednesday.

Chombo was supposed to appear in court to answer charges of criminal nuisance but did not show up, leading Harare regional magistrate, Mr Hosiah Mujaya to issue a warrant of arrest for the ex-minister.

Chombo is alleged to have worn Zanu PF party regalia knowing he was no longer representing the interests of the party and posted his pictures on social media.

Earlier on, Chombo had challenged the charges, arguing that it does not constitute an offence.

Before issuing a warranty of arrest, the magistrate warned against willful default by people on the pretext of administrative reasons.

Chombo’s accomplices; Kudzai Chipanga and Innocent Hamandishe attended the court session and the case has been postponed to Friday this week where Chombo is expected to also appear.
