The University of Zimbabwe on Sunday held its annual track and field competition which saw top athletes registering impressive times.
A thrilling atmosphere engulfed the UZ which held its annual track and field competition at the weekend.
One of the main attractions was the 4×100 metre relay with another exciting event being the 100 metre event for seniors which was won by Ngoni Makusha who registered a time of 10.06 seconds while Christen Kelechi of Hellenic came first in the women seniors 100 metre event.
In the field events UZ’s Mieguery Kwenda delivered the excitement in the open high jump where she cleared 2.01 metres to win the event.
Leon Fusire of the UZ came first in javelin after registering a distance of 56.25 metres as Nigel Majuru finished in pole position in the long jump.
UZ sports director Life Chemhere was satisfied with the objectives of the competition having been met.
The university used the track and field event to prepare athletes for the ZTISU games as well as the International Federation of University Sports Games to be held in China.
The event also included Under 15 and 19 categories.
