United Nations Resident Co-ordinator for Zimbabwe, Mr Alain Noudehou has reiterated his organisationâ€™s commitment to continue bankrolling programmes being implemented by the Organ on National Healing, Reconciliation and Integration to strengthen the countryâ€™s capacity for conflict resolution and prevention.
He made the remarks after paying a courtesy call on Acting President, Cde John Landa Nkomo at his Munhumutapa offices in Harare.
Mr Noudehou met with Acting President Nkomo and two Ministers of the Organ on National Healing, Reconciliation and Integration, Mrs Sekai Holland from the MDC-T and Mr. Moses Mzila Ndlovu from the other MDC formation.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Mr. Noudehou said the UNDP has been working closely with the Organ on National Healing, Reconciliation and Integration and his organisation is pleased with the progress registered by the organ to date, despite challenges such as lack of resources.
The UNDP provides technical and infrastructural support for the project, while the Office of the President and Cabinet acts as the national executing agency.
The Organ for National Healing, Reconciliation and Integration is an arm of the government which is meant to assist the state in addressing internal conflicts in the country.
The Organ has three Ministers drawn from the countryâ€™s three main political parties making up the inclusive government.
