The UK journalists get a feel of the majestic Victoria Falls

The United Kingdom-based journalists who were on a tour of major tourist attractions in the country courtesy of Rwanda Air and Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) have pledged to help propagate the Zimbabwe is open for business mantra and have hailed the country as a hospitable destination.

The 12-member media delegation which was in the country has wrapped up their visit which was aimed at empowering the journalists with firsthand knowledge about developments in the country so they can correct misconceptions in some of the country’s major source markets.

The journalists who had a chance to tour some of the major tourist attractions have committed to spreading the message that Zimbabwe is open for business and to correct the misconception about the country.

“Zimbabwe is open for business,” chants this UK-based journalist when he spoke to our ZBC News reporter Luckmore Safuli in Victoria Falls recently

“The experience has been great. I don’t think people in UK appreciate how beautiful this destination is. We stand ready to promote the destination and spread the message that Zimbabwe is indeed open for business,” said one of the journalists.

According to the journalists, Zimbabwe has the potential to be among the top 50 tourism destinations in the world.

They stressed the need to leverage on the rich natural resource base towards sustainable development.

The media houses which were represented include the Luxury Lifestyle Magazine, IEA Newspaper and other lifestyle publications from the UK.

The UK remains the country’s top and primary market contributing a total of 73 000 tourist arrivals in 2017.
