st georges cricket club.jpgSt Georges College emerged triumphant at a recently held T-20 Schools tourney after beating hosts St John’s College by 2 wickets in a tightly contested final.

St Georges had defeated Prince Edward in the semi-finals, with St Johns College beating Churchill to set up at Saint Georges versus St John’s final.

Despite watching his team beaten by St Georges in a nail biting final, St John’s College Headmaster, Bill Annandale, expressed satisfaction with the remarkable growth of a tournament that also featured two South African Schools, indicating the significance such events have in enhancing the growth of cricket at the grassroots.

The Schools T-20 tourney is an annual competition which features established cricket teams that are hosted by St John’s College. It is from such tournaments where the skills of most current national team players have been nurtured.
