The Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC) met national sport associations for a one day governance conference.

SRC corporate communications officer Tirivashe Nheweyembwa said in line with government’s thrust to ensure sport contributes to the GDP, the governance conference sought to open dialogue on how national sport associations can attract the corporate world through adherence to good governance principles and upholding the SRC Act.

Nheweyembwa said most of national sport associations are not familiar with the SRC Act yet it is the body responsible of giving grants to these national sport associations and thus there was need to meet and spell out what is expected from them.

Meanwhile, the SRC said some national sport associations have complied and presented their 100 day projects which will be thoroughly supervised.
