Police say they are investigating a case in which gunshots were allegedly fired at the home of a Marondera central member of the House of Assembly, Caston Matewu last night.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner, Paul Nyathi confirmed that they have received a report on the gunshots which were fired at the home of Matewu in Nyameni suburb last night.
When ZBC News visited Matewu’s residence, there were used cartridges at the yard while his vehicle had bullet holes.
He confirmed that he has made a police report and will await the outcome of the investigations.
“I have made a police report and so far I don’t want to speculate on the motive as I am waiting for police to do their work,” said Matewu.
The incident, which also resulted in a water tank at the house being damaged, is believed to have occurred around 02:30.
