The government and trade promotion body, Zimtrade are stepping up efforts to drum up support, raise awareness and ensure local participation in the forthcoming Shanghai China, World Expo 2010.
As a follow up to Zimbabweâ€™s participation bid in the Shanghai China World Expo 2010 launched in Harare and Bulawayo, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Zimtrade have begun working in earnest to promote participation at the fair.
The world exposition held after every five years is expected to attract 241 countries and an estimated 70 to 80 million visitors in six months commencing on the 1st of May to the 31st of October.
Speaking at a media reception, Zimtrade Acting Chief Executive Officer Mr. Crispen Tsvarai said the expo is a big project, highlighting that media support is critical in creating stakeholder participation, in an event of such magnitude.
Deputy Director responsible for Bilateral Trade Relations in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce Mrs. Magade said stakeholders have taken a national thrust that will seek to market every aspect of Zimbabwe ranging from the countryâ€™s image, culture and tourism, to its business and trade opportunities.
The six month Shanghai expo will run under the theme â€œBetter City, Better Lifeâ€ a theme aimed at stimulating development of cities though overcoming the challenges confronting them.
