The City of Harare has started repairing sewer system and supplying running water in Mbare as parts of their efforts to address the challenge of disease outbreaks following a typhoid outbreak recorded a few weeks ago.

Harare’s acting town clerk Mrs Josephine Ncube said they are planning on restructuring Mbare area and what will be critical is the cooperation of residents towards achieving this iniative which will address issues of sanitation and overpopulation issues which in the past have led to typhoid outbreak.

The government called for demolition of Mbare flats saying it was now a breeding ground for infectious diseases.

However, the City of Harare in response said they are engaging CBZ bank for demolition and construction of new flats to accommodate affected parties.

The City of Harare adopted the rapid results initiative to improve sanitation standards, establish a mass transit system and enable ease of doing business in the city among other aims.
