Fishing fans were treated to some exciting competition at the President’s Test Annual Bass Fishing Tournament where hosts Zimbabwe ended second behind winners South Africa.
The one week fishing competition which began last Monday at Mteri dam in Chiredzi ended with South Africa topping against Zimbabwe and Namibia.
The South African team scored 231.89 points followed by Zimbabwe which scored 217.85 points and Namibia came last with 91.72 points.
South African team captain Pieau Vo Meruve said they were excited about their achievement since it has been long losing against Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe’s team captain Grant Amm said despite fishing being an expensive sport they believe it has got a potential to be one of the biggest tourism event in the province.
They tournament was conducted on a catch and release format in which they would catch, weigh and release the bass fish back into the water for conservation purposes.
