Highlands Primary School was a hive of activity today as the pupils participated in the 56th Africa Day celebrations.
The school teachers unpacked the adage ‘catch them young’, as they expressed the importance of teaching young children the significance of celebrating African traditions and values in anticipation they will pass them on to generations to come.
Donning African attire, the energetic students expressed their pride in being African and they took turns to showcase their talents in music, poetry, modelling, traditional dance and drama.
The visibly elated students also exhibited their knowledge of what Africa Day is.
Africa Day is celebrated annually on 25 May, to mark the formation of the Organisation of African Unity, now African Union (AU), in 1963.
