The private media has been criticised for attempting to tarnish the cordial relations that exists between Zimbabwe and China.

Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr. Xin Shunkang, has castigated some elements of the media who are after tarnishing the bilateral relations that exist between Zimbabwe and his native country.

Mr. Xin made the remarks at a handover ceremony of television sets that were donated by a Chinese firm.

The donation was facilitated by the Minister of Defence, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa and the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, General Constantine Chiwenga.

Media, Information and Publicity Minister, Cde Webster Shamu challenged the private media on why they are silent on the exploitation of Africa by the west, but are bent on using unfounded accusations to tarnish the Asian country.

Also present at the handover ceremony were Ministers, Cde Nicholas Goche and Walter Mzembi who hailed the initiative taken by the Chinese embassy officials.

Some private media institutions have been on a rampage discrediting Chinese business people operating in the country.

China has been an all weather friend of Zimbabwe since the liberation struggle as the country played a pivotal role in assisting freedom fighters.

This year the country has received more than 10 Chinese high level delegations and the Asian country has since extended a US$700 million loan facility to the government of Zimbabwe.
