President Emmerson Mnangagwa this Saturday toured the National art gallery in Bulawayo where he got a chance to appreciate what local artists are doing before his interaction with them at a local hotel.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa arrived at the national art gallery in Bulawayo accompanied by the First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa, government ministers, and senior officials.

The delegation was taken on a tour of the gallery by the Regional Director Butholezwe Nyathi. Lighter moments were shared when the president bought some earrings which were being admired by the First Lady.

However, it was “the lion in the wilderness” painting by Davison Mlotshwa which caught the eye of the president. He bought the painting and several African maps.

Davison Mlotshwa The originator of the painting commended the first family for supporting local artists.

“I am honoured that his Excellency bought my painting and as artists, we really appreciate the support, it means a lot,” said Mlotshwa.

The President and his delegation later proceeded to a local hotel where he interacted with local artists as they shared with him the challenges they face in the arts and culture industry.
