The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) has handed over a donation worth thousands of dollars to two social organisations.
The telecommunications watchdog, has made a generous donation worthy US$65 000 to two charity organisations, the Albino Association of Zimbabwe which received US$15 000 and Kidzcan Zimbabwe which also received US$50 000.
Speaking to ZBC News after the handover ceremony POTRAZ Acting Director-General Mr Alfres Marisa said the donation is part of the organisation’s social responsibility mandate adding that another donation will soon be handed over towards the cholera cause.
The POTRAZ acting director-general said the monies are set aside by the institution to assist vulnerable members of the community in their day to day life.
Mr Murisa said the donation was also meant to set an example to other privileged institutions and individuals to follow suit and be an agent of change to someone’s life.
The donation was met with emotional gratitude from representatives of the two organisations who could not find the right words to express their appreciation.
The handover ceremony was witnessed by government representatives and civic society organisations.
