vehicle registration.jpgPolice in Harare have impounded 118 unregistered vehicles within three days in an operation code named ‘Name Tag Phase Three’ meant to remove all such vehicles on the roads until proper documentation have been acquired.

Harare police spokesperson, Inspector James Sabau said the operation is meant to thwart social ills that have been associated with unregistered vehicles.

Under Section 18 of the Vehicle Registration and Licensing Act, any newly bought and unregistered vehicle should on entry at the country’s boarders obtain a temporary registration card from ZIMRA.

The vehicle should be parked upon reaching its destination from the boarders until it is registered and has proper documentation within 14 days.
