The Manicaland provincial administrator and provincial chairman of the Department of Civil Protection, Mr Edgar Seenza has appealed for more food items to assist Cyclone Idai survivors.

Mr Seenza highlighted that a total of 1 930.21 metric tonnes of mealie-meal are required, with only 133.8475 metric tonnes available for now, leaving a shortfall of 1 796.365 metric tonnes.

The Manicaland provincial administrator made the revelations at a handover ceremony of donations from the City of Harare, where he also appealed to well-wishers taking donations to disaster areas not to focus on Chimanimani only, but to support other areas also affected by the cyclone including Buhera and Mutasa central districts.

The City of Harare, in partnership with its residents and Harare Girls High School (HGHS) donated clothes, blankets, pots and 30 tonnes of mealie-meal.
