mbuya msika.jpgActing President Cde Joice Mujuru, Vice President Cde John Landa Nkomo and management of DTZ-OZGEO  company were at the Msika home in Harare’s Mandara suburb to wish wife of the late Vice President Cde Joseph Msika, Mbuya Maria Msika a  happy birthday.

In  true African style Cde Mujuru, who has assumed the role of head of family to the Msikas, presented Mbuya Msika with a birthday gift in the form of a state of the art, electric wheelchair. 


It was an emotional moment when Mbuya Msika accepted the wheelchair, and her two grandchildren Nobuhle and Dumisani were on hand to assist her.

DTZ-OZGEO is a joint venture between Zimbabwean and Russian companies involved in mining activities.


The late Vice President Cde Joseph Msika had a strong relationship with the company and after his death Cde Nkomo took over from where he left. Speaking  through an interpreter, Managing Director of DTZ-OZGEO Mr. Viktor Kusly wished Mbuya Msika the best of good health and thanked her for the friendship and hospitality that has been extended to the staff of DTZ –OZGEO.

After the touching event, a visibly moved Mbuya Msika could only say ,”God bless you all”. Mrs Veronica Mwela who is sister to the late Cde Msika thanked the Government of Zimbabwe and staff from DTZ-OZGEO for maintaining a strong bond with the Msika family even after the death of Cde Joseph Msika.

Mbuya Msika was showered with flowers, firstly from member of the ZANU PF Politburo, Dr Stanley Sakupwanya, followed by two visitors from Moscow who had accompanied the DTZ staff and then the non-executive director of DTZ-OZGEO Mr. Wellington Chando. Also present was Minister of State in Vice President Nkomo’s Office Cde Flora Bhuka.
