ZPS Deputy Commissioner, Rhodes Moyo, said the Mazoe Prison which has a capacity to hold 300 prisoners is expected to be complete by December this year.

The construction of farm prisons is being done in accordance with government policy to relocate convicted prisoners to farm prisons while those on remand remain in prisons in urban centres.

Deputy Commissioner Moyo said the development will ease overcrowding in remand prisons which he said cannot be controlled by the ZPS.

Three thousand two hundred and fourteen inmates are still on remand at the Harare Remand Prison.
