Matabeleland South province team is fired-up for the upcoming National Association of Primary Heads (NAPH) competitions to be held in Gweru this month.
After performing dismally in the previous NAPH competitions, Matebeleland South province team is seeking to overturn that tag this year during the nationals set for Gweru between the 25th and the 29th of March.
NAPH Provincial Chairperson for Matabeleland South Mr Elton Sinyosi said they will also be carrying the best squad and not just the number of children.
“We were supposed to take 65 children to the national competition but we have decided to take only 50 because we wanted the best.
“We are not about numbers,” said Mr Sinyosi.
The Provincial Education Director Mr Lifius Masukume called on Team Matabeleland South to uphold discipline, fair play and team spirit.
“I implore parents to view learning as something also done outside the traditional walls of classroom.
“Physical education and sport provides a platform for learners to engage with unknown environment bringing with a rich knowledge base,” said Mr Masukume.
During the Inter-District competitions that were used to select the provincial team, Insiza district dominated scooping 23 gold, 13 silver and 9 bronze medals followed by Beitbridge and Gwanda South who came second and third respectively.
