coaches training ed.jpgLocal coaches from the Northern Region clashed with their counterparts from the Southern region in a charity match played at Gwanzura Stadium yesterday.
The charity match pitting Zimbabwe’s soccer legends from the northern and southern region at Gwanzura Stadium afforded a healthy platform for social integration while for the small crowd that turned out; it was a journey down memory lane.

However, for Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches’ Union President and captain for northern team, Moses ‘Bambo’ Chunga and his southern counterpart Willard ‘Mashinkila’ Khumalo, the event cleared the perception by many that coaches are rivals bent on just serving their masters who are the clubs.

Seeing the local coaches gathered for one cause, supporters were thrilled especially for the older generation who got the chance to remember the good old days.

The match ended 2-all.

While the result will not really matter, it was the sight of Zimbabwe’s celebrated football stars who are now committing their time to develop the game that cast hope on the future of  local football.
