The late war veteran Cde Wilson Chingarande who died on the 4th of this month in Wedza and was declared a liberation war hero was buried at the Mashonaland East Provincial Heroes Acre.
Born on the 12th of February 1953 in Chipinge, Cde Chingarande whose Chimurenga name was Cde Bluckson Tafirenyika joined the liberation struggle in 1975 and received training at Takawira base in Chimoio.
He was deployed in the Svosve area in Wedza where he operated until the country attained independence in 1980 and joined the Zimbabwe National Army where he retired in 2002 as a Staff Sergeant.
At the time of his death he was the Wedza district vice chairperson of the Zimbabwe War Veterans Association.
Director in Mashonaland East Minister of State’s office Mr Muchemwa Mugwisi said Cde Chingarande showed great commitment towards attainting the country’s liberation.
He is survived by his wife Liana, six children and nine grandchildren.
