iyasa.jpgBulawayo-based and multi-award winning perfoming dance, group, IYASA, will join more than 30 musicians at this year’s Unity Gala to be held at Mutare’s Sakubva Stadium tomorrow.

The group members said they are now geared up for the Unity Day to be held in in Mutare, Saturday night.


The gala commemorates the Unity Accord that was signed between ZANU PF and PF ZAPU on December 22 in 1987.


The Bulawayo-based arts group, IYASA is set to thrill the crowd with their dances and theatrical performances.


Innocent Nkululeko Dube, who is the group’s leader, said theirs is a powerful celebration of thrilling energy, melodious voices,pounding drums and rythms in celebrationof Unity Day.

The gala promises to bring the best out of the country’s artistes from all over the country’s from all over the country as they all aim to showcase the best there is in Zimbabwe’s entertainment and culture.


IYASA was established in 2001 to support and promote the interests of young musicians, dancers, actors and poets.


It has since expanded its base to be a resource centre for most established and upcoming artists.


IYASA is an abbreviation for Inkululeko Yabatsha School Arts which means freedom for young people school of arts.

The group says besides performing at the Unity Gala, one of their visions is to share their skills with other young performers coming to share the stage in Mutare.
