The Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Professor Jonathan Moyo has called for radical transformation of higher and tertiary education for it to be an appropriate knowledge base relevant to the industrialisation and modernisation of the country.

To industrialise and modernise is the country’s new vision which resonates with regional and continental vision of industrialisation says Professor Moyo during his public lecture at the Midlands State University (MSU) on the role of STEM in reviving the Zimbabwean economy.

Professor Moyo who took the students through the thinking process that has informed internal processes of STEM says it is time for the country to move towards a Zimbabwe whose reference point is industrialisation and modernisation.

He said in order to realise this vision, radical transformation is required in higher and tertiary education adding that stematisation of the sector will make significant contribution towards the vision.

The public lecture which attracted students and lecturers from MSU and other institutions of higher learning from Gweru was held under the theme: ‘The Role of STEM in Reviving the Zimbabwean Economy’.
