Harare province were crowned champions of the 2019 Easter Darts Tournament after three days of intense competition at Belvedere Technical Teachers College.

Inspired by the likes of open singles winners, Mordecai Mheka and Faith Dube, Harare province emerged overall victors after ending with an overall points tally of 143, while the Midlands province finished second with 107 points and Manicaland in third place after accruing 103 points.

Harare Darts Association Chairperson, Alec Chiwaridzo was elated with the performance of players selected to represent the province, expressing hope that Harare will continue to dominate at future competitions.

“It is gratifying to see all the hard work paying off. I am confident that it will just not end here as we want to continuously challenge Mashonaland West, which has been a dominant force in recent years,” said Chiwaridzo

With Zimbabwe set to take part at the Region Five Darts Junior Tournament to be hosted by Swaziland, National Darts Association of Zimbabwe President, Maynard Moyo is encouraged by how junior players performed at the three-day tournament.

“It was good to see the young players coming up, in particular Vacancy Chepiri, who was a marvel to watch. It gives us a lot of encouragement as we gear up for the Region Five games that will be hosted by Swaziland later on in the year”. Said Moyo

While Harare were the overall winners, Midlands scooped pole position in the ladies’ section.

In the men’s section, Harare claimed first place, shrugging off the challenge of Mashonaland West who settled for second position.
