The much awaited Harare Basketball Association 2019/2020 league season gets underway this weekend with defending champions Harare City Hornets confirming that they are fully prepared to challenge for honours once again.
Following a successful campaign in the men’s Harare basketball league last season, defending champions Harare City Hornets look set to retain their title after adding six new signings to beef up their squad.
With only two days to go before the commencement of the Harare basketball league, City Hornets Coach, Tawanda Nemutambwe said the addition of the six new players will bring the necessary depth as they challenge for honours.
“We are quite aware that this season everyone is targeting to beat the champions so it is not going to be easy we have to up our game. We have added new signings into the team in order to improve our depth, and so as other teams, but I am quite sure that we will challenge for honours. However, it is not going to be a stroll in the park,” said Nemutambwe.
City Hornets acquired the services of Davison Chivero, Norman Chimukunda, Manoah Ntini, Jairos Dube, Gilbert Maida and Freddy Alick ahead of the new season.
The men’s defending champions will begin their campaign against Assassins at Richwood Park this Saturday.
