Zanu PF Second Secretary who is also the Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Retired General Constantino Chiwenga told thousands of Zanu PF supporters in Gokwe Chireya that government will soon introduce command cotton in the area which will be sold through an auction system to create competition in the pricing of the crop.

Cotton is the second most important crop in the country and the major source of income for the Gokwe community.

The announcement of command cotton which is set to boost the crop production and revive many ailing industries that depended on cotton for its operations drew loud applause from the excited Gokwe community.

Addressing thousands of party supporters, Retired General Chiwenga said government will roll out command cotton that will be sold through an auction system, thus creating competitive prices in Gokwe.

“Visions and aspirations envisaged in the party’s manifesto can be realised if people vote for Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, a people centred leader who is focused on developing and transforming the country for the better,” said Retired General Chiwenga.

He went on to acknowledge the challenges affecting the people of Gokwe and pledged that government will prioritise road network and schools construction.
