Government is set to establish multipurpose and recreational facilities in every province to promote the sport, arts and culture industry.
This comes as the sport, arts and culture industry emerged as one of the multi-million dollar industries in the world.
Recreation is important for child development and sports arts and culture remain an untapped potential multi-million dollar industry.
The President, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa said his government will ensure the transformation of the sports, dance theatre, music and film sectors to nurture and develop talent for children and youths.
“My government is establishing multipurpose sport and recreational facilities in every province with facilities for a wide range of sports, dance theatre, music and film,” he said.
The President called on local authorities to avail land for the recreational facilities so that every child will have access to these facilities.
“I challenge local authorities to compliment these efforts by availing more land for recreational facilities for our young people. Combined and collective efforts will undoubtedly transform our sport, arts and recreational sector into a more viable industry and a source of employment for our populace especially the youths,” President Mnangagwa added.
President Mnangagwa also encouraged youths to take advantage of the 51 new vocational training centers set up in all the provinces and the incubation hubs to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
The President revealed that government is implementing a modified National Youth Service training programme to inculcate the values of patriotism, voluntarism, respect national pride, cultural identity and Ubuntu.
