The government has plans to construct 10 industrial parks across all the 10 provinces beginning next year that will compliment innovation hubs currently being implemented in institutions of higher learning.
Speaking at an Innovation Africa Summit which ended today in the capital, Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Minister Professor Amon Murwira said government has already invested $15 million to construct 6 innovation hubs at 6 state universities, one already functioning while 5 others are 70 percent complete.
Professor Murwira said government is partnering with the private sector to invest and upgrade education facilities while training projects are in the pipeline to equip lectures and students with state of art technological knowhow so as to drive innovation and creativity in the sector.
Meanwhile, recently the government, through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education signed a memorandum of understanding with global tech giant Microsoft which will lead in the implementation of smart ICT-led education system.
The summit attracted both regional and international participants and provided a good platform for idea exchange and prospective deals were signed.
