The government has endorsed the one stop border post strategy paving way for the operationalisation of the plan with South Africa.

Zimbabwe is now ready to ensure that the one stop border post concept at Beitbridge port of entry is implemented.

While Zimbabwe and South Africa last week also agreed on the modalities to ensure the concept becomes a reality, the director in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce responsible for research and consumer affairs, Mrs Constance Zhanje told the ZBC News the plan will also enhance economic cooperation for the two countries.

“The plan is coming at the right time and we hope for increased activities,” she said.

Government is therefore mobilising adequate capital, facilitating training on the one stop border post concept with a national awareness campaign on the system expected to be rolled out in several parts of the country soon.

Some of the border posts that are being targeted under the one stop concept include Kazungula, Forbes and Plumtree among others.
