The Zimbabwe senior netball team, the Gems have got their 2019 Vitality World Cup preliminary stage two underway with a 79-36 loss at the hands of New Zealand.
The Gems went into the stage two after finishing second behind 11 time and defending champions Australia in Group ‘A’ following their sensational 51-49 victory over Northern Ireland yesterday evening.
However, things did not go according to plan in the first match in the preliminary round stage two where they will also battle it out with five other teams in their group for a place in the semi-finals.
The group also includes their stage one opponents Australia and Northern Ireland as well as the top three teams from Group ‘B’ – New Zealand, Malawi and Barbados.
The top two teams from the group will progress to the semi-finals.
