referees1.jpgZimbabwe has lost two vacancies for Referees on the FIFA panel following the failure by two of its members to pass a fitness test at the on-going FIFA high level referees course underway, in Harare.

While fitness sometimes comes as a freely chosen behavior, it has claimed the skulls of top premiership referees, Cosmas Chafa and Oswald Mukucha who have been scrapped-off the FIFA referees panel.

Malawian FIFA fitness instructor, Mark Muzengo says though he has observed an improvement in the fitness levels of local referees, some of them have fallen by the wayside after failing fitness tests.

“FIFA Chief Technical Instructor for East and Southern Africa, Felix Tangawarima noted the dynamism encompassed in the referees course and emphasized the need for teamwork among referees, assessors and commissioners,” Muzengo said.

“The last two days of the course will put emphasis on the match commissioners.

“The FIFA team is being assisted by local instructors who include Joseph Mususa, Gladmore Muzambi, Tendai Bwanya and Kenny Marange,” Tangawarima said.
