The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) in partnership with ZBC’s Radio Zimbabwe took its consumer rights campaign to Mwenezi district of Masvingo where hundreds attended the roadshow.
Telecommunication users were called upon to be familiar with their rights and responsibilities to avoid being abused by service providers.
According to POTRAZ, telecommunication users have got a number of rights including the right to choose a service provider of their choice, the right to access high quality service, the right to accurate bills and the right to complain and have redress, among others.
“As the country’s telecommunications regulator, we are mandated to promote the interests of consumers and purchasers of postal and telecommunication services that is why we are conducting these campaigns. Users must know that they are entitled to quality and reliable service to be availed with clear and understandable bills. We want to make sure users are protected at the same time, they responsibly use telecommunications,” said Mr Phibion Chaibva, the POTRAZ representative.
For the people of Mwenezi, Maranda business centre was the place to be and the day will remain in their memories as they had a rare opportunity to meet their favourite disc jockeys (DJs) from Radio Zimbabwe and other artistes.
POTRAZ took the opportunity to educate people on the importance of safe internet use especially for children.
