The permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information , Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana, says radio should never be a decentralised conduit or arm of government but a vehicle for local development for locals who are promoting the local agenda.

The permanent secretary said this during a community broadcasting indaba held in the capital. More than 30 community radio stations from across the country are in attendance as well as the regulatory body, Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) and developmental partners.

Zimbabwe currently does not have a licensed community radio and plans are already underway to ensure the licensing of the radio stations.
