john-nkomo.jpgChina says it will continue to support local efforts to revitalise the country’s economy while at the same time ensuring that Chinese business people understand Zimbabwe’s economic situation.


A fifteen member Chinese business delegation which is in the country to explore investment opportunities in the medical field, mining and infrastructure development paid a courtesy call on Vice President Cde John Landa Nkomo at his Munhumutapa office in Harare.


China’s ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr. Xin Shunkang who accompanied the business delegation to Cde Nkomo’s office said, he will continue to fulfill his obligation of explaining Zimbabwe’s economic situation to the people of his country while also supporting efforts by Zimbabweans in revitalizing the country’s economy.


“China remains committed to working with the people of Zimbabwe and as Ambassador i will continue to be the link between the people of these two countries,” he said.

Head of visiting delegation Mr. Ji Peiding said the purpose of the visit among other things is to cement relations and strengthen bilateral ties between Zimbabwe and China.


“The delegation is made up of bussiness people specialising in various feilds and we are here to see how we can further strengthen the bilateral ties,” noted Mr. Ji Peiding.


China continued to provide Zimbabwe with political and financial support when western nations imposed sanctions on the country.

The Asian giant is emerging as the prominent world economic superpower with Zimbabwe well positioned under its look east policy to benefit from Chinese investment.

Zimbabwe and China’s bilateral relations continue to grow in all facets of life and China is the biggest buyer of Zimbabwean tobacco.


The number of Chinese tourists to Zimbabwe has also increased since Zimbabwe was added to China’s official list of approved tourism destinations.
