Zimbabwe had a good start to their first test match against West Indies at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo following some impressive bowling by captain Graeme Cremer and Sean Williams.

The Windies won the toss and elected to bat with a promising opening partnership between Kieran Powell and Shai Hope.

Zimbabwe however bowled them out for 219 from 82.5 overs as Cremer was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 64 off 23.5 overs.

He was ably assisted by Williams who took 3 for 20 wickets, while Solomon Mire, Sikandar Raza Butt and returnee, Kyle Jarvis had a wicket apiece.

Hope top scored for the Windies in an unbeaten 90.

Zimbabwe were to face the last 5 overs of the day with Hamilton Masakadza and Mire opening the Chevrons’ 1st innings.

Mire was in a bullish mood, posting 17 runs on the board, while Masakadza was yet to get off the mark.

At stumps on day 1, Zimbabwe were on 19 without loss.

Action continues this Sunday with Zimbabwe hoping to put up a solid start to their first innings.
