The Zimbabwe National Army side, Royal FC this weekend received a donation of RTGS$17 000 worth of soccer kit from a local tobacco company.

The donation included jerseys, soccer balls and shinpads.

Handing over the donation, Ethical Holdings Pvt. Ltd. Projects Manager, Mr Doesmatter Muvimbi said for any business to thrive, peace and tranquillity must prevail, hence the donation to the army side.

In his acceptance speech, guest of honour at the event, Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) Brigadier General Training, Brigadier General Ephias Mahachi, said they were honoured by the donation since sport contributes to the physical fitness of the regiment.

“I am sure you agree with me that it is not easy given the financial challenges affecting us as a nation and individuals. However, because of the love of the game and social corporate responsibility, they have donated this kit. I am greatly honoured by the gesture,” he said.

Warriors head coach, Sunday Chidzambwa, who attended the event, urged the army side to work hard.

Mhofu also urged the nation to rally behind the Warriors at the COSAFA and AFCON tournaments.

The event was graced by senior ZNA officers who include the Commander Presidential Guard, Brigadier General Fidelis Mhonda.
