More 200 buyers are expected to participate at the 11th edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani Tourism Expo which runs from the 6th to 8th of next month at the ZITF grounds in Bulawayo.

The country’s tourism promotion body, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) says it is ready to host this year’s edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani which comes at a time the tourism sector is experiencing a massive rebound on the back of re-engagement efforts by the new dispensation and the renewed interest in the top destination, Victoria Falls.

At least 210 buyers are expected to take part at this year’s exhibition while a total of 40 international journalists are expected to grace the premier tourism expo.

ZTA Chief Executive Dr Karikoga Kaseke said all the exhibition space has been taken up, adding that a total of seven ministers have confirmed their participation at the African Ministers Round-Table to be held during the expo.

“We are ready to host the premier tourism fair. The response has been positive we are expecting about 210 buyers and 40 international journalists. It is also special in that we will have an African Tourism Ministers Roundtable,” said Dr Kaseke.

The African Tourism Ministers’ Roundtable is set to give a platform to the decision makers to adopt strategies in revitalising the travel and tourism sector on the continent and to ensure that the industry contributes to the sustainable development of communities across the motherland.

The 11th edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani Tourism Fair is also unique as it will seek to promote the legacy and trace the heritage trail of Father Zimbabwe Dr Joshua Nkomo.

The last edition of the tourism expo attracted 350 exhibitors and 29 foreign companies.
