Five men have appeared at the Zvishavane Magistrate Courts facing murder charges.
The five are Bothwell Moyo, Omega Ziwa, Godknows Sibanda, Munashe Mtetwa and Alpha Shava all from Sikandiwa Village under Chief Mazvihwa.
Allegations against the five are that on April 27 this year, the accused who were proceeding to Sabi Mine for illegal gold mining met the deceased who was in the company of his colleagues.
A misunderstanding is said to have ensued resulting in the accused persons assaulting the now deceased all over the body with machetes, stones and sticks.
It is the state’s case that the deceased’s colleagues ran away leaving him being assaulted.
The deceased is said to have ran into the South Devon dam and the accused persons pursued him and surrounded the dam to prevent him from getting out of the water.
The accused are then alleged to have thrown explosives at the deceased resulting in his death.
Four of the accused were remanded to august 7 in custody save for Bothwell Moyo who was reminded out of custody by magistrate Mr Sheppard Munjanja.
