The curtain came down yesterday for the Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union (ZTSU) 3rd edition of the Paralympics that ran from Thursday in Mutare.

Zimbabwe Universities Sports Association (ZUSA) were crowned winners after amassing 28 gold, 28 silver and 16 bronze medals, while Zimbabwe Teachers Colleges Sports Union  (ZITCOSA) came second with 20 gold, 15 silver and 11 bronze medals.

Technical colleges came third with 11 gold, 14 silver and 15 bronze medals.

The games, which marked the end of the ZTISU sporting calendar, are set to be transformed into a regional tournament with negotiations between neighbouring countries now at an advanced stage, according to Steward Jonhasi, the ZTSU Sport Development Officer.

Indications are that the games might take a regional approach just like the Confederation of University Council Sports Association, which is graced by universities from neighbouring countries.
