athlets.jpgAll is set for the hosting of the Zimbabwe Universities Sports Association’s National Annual Track and Field Competitions which are slated for the capital over the weekend.

Zimbabwe’s top athletes who represented the country at the Federal International Universities Sports Competitions last year in Shen-Zhen, China will once again grace the ZUSA Track and Field Championships scheduled for this weekend at the University of Zimbabwe.

With Zimbabwe’s 11 universities affiliated to ZUSA having confirmed their participation at the annual national sports event, all roads lead to UZ where the championships will be held.

ZUSA President, Liberty Maidza confirmed that preparations are now at an advanced stage with a lot of sponsors coming on board to grace the event.

100 and 200m sprinters; Itai Vambe and Beaula Mufambisi from UZ will be expected to be at their best, while reigning champions MSU are banking on Zimbabwe international javelin and discuss sensation, Gilbert Swerengoma and 800m runner, Reginald Makunere.

Women’s high jump local champion, Thelma Zvavamwe of UZ will be among those athletes to be looked at with Great Zimbabwe banking on 5 000 and 10 000m runners Vongai Chamunorwa and Munyaradzi Magorimbo.
