The Zimbabwe University Sports Association (ZUSA) are the overall winners of the seventh edition of the Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union (ZTISU) games, which ended at the weekend.

ZUSA had a total of 117 medals, 44 gold, 41 silver and 32 bronze.

Tertiary Education Sports Association Of Zimbabwe (TESAZ) were in second place with total 42 medals, 16 gold, 13 silver and 13 bronze and Zimbabwe Teachers Colleges Sports Association (ZITCOSA) in third on 62 total, 14 gold, 20 silver and 28 bronze.

The 7th edition of the games held at Belvedere Technical Teachers College were a huge success as they attracted over 3 000 athletes.

ZTISU development officer, Stewart Tinashe Jonhasi expressed satisfaction with the level of competition.

The development officer said they have now selected a competitive ZTISU team to compete at the Zimbabwe National Youth Games set for Matabeleland North from the 17th to 27th of next month.

Athletes competed in 18 different sporting codes including golf, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, chess, cricket, rugby, pool, netball, football and hockey.

ZUSA comprised of 13 state universities whilst ZITCOSA team comprised 13 teachers’ colleges and TESAZ was made up of 11 technical colleges.
