The 2018 edition of the Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Unions (ZTISU) paralympic games kicked off at Kushinga Phikelela Polytechnic in Marondera with more than 300 athletes taking part.

The athletes are taking part in four sporting disciplines namely goalball, athletics, five-a-side soccer and chess.

ZTISU national chairperson Oliparth Guvuriro said he is happy with both the turnout and level of competition at this year’s games.

“I am impressed by the level of participation by the athletes while all colleges have turned up,” he said.

Athletics will be hosted at Marondera High, while goalball, chess and soccer will be at Kushinga Phikelela Polytechnic.

The games are expected to end on Sunday.

ZTISU comprises Technical Education Sports Association of Zimbabwe (TESAZ), Zimbabwe Teachers Colleges Sports Association (ZITCOSA) and Zimbabwe Universities Sports Association (ZUSA).
