Trading on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange started the week on a high note due to gains by most blue-chip counters.

The industrial index gained a further 1.47 points to settle at 179.26 points as heavyweight counters gained ground, while the mining index was flat 69.93 points.

British American Tobacco went up by a hefty 46.75 cents to trade at 175.67 cents, Padenga jumped to 25.50 cents following a 4.00 cents gain and Old Mutual added 1.17 cents to 380.25 cents.

Seedco improved by 1.00 cents to close at 111.00 cents, Innscor  put on 0.90 cents to end at 66.00 cents whilst Delta was 0.30 cents higher at 110.50 cents.

Only two counters lost ground as Meikles shed 0.46 cents to trade at 28.05 cents while Star Africa eased 0.20 cents to 1.00 cents.

Bindura, Falgold, Hwange and Riozim remained unchanged at previous trading levels.
