It is not one man’s responsibility to tame traffic congestion on the road but it is every citizen’s mandate to save lives.

This came to light at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and NetOne held in Harare this Wednesday.

Traffic congestion has become rampant in the Harare Central Business District and in light of that, the ZRP has partnered with the mobile telecommunications company in a ‘smart city partnership’ which is aimed at eradicating the menace.

The ZRP Deputy Commissioner General (Operations), Learn Ncube welcomed the move, indicating that everyone should work tirelessly to tame traffic congestion since it is not the duty of the police alone.

NetOne Board Chairman Mr James Mutizwa echoed the same sentiments, highlighting that everyone should come on board to help capacitate traffic police in their drive to ensure sanity on the roads.

The partnership saw the ZRP receiving reflective jackets, rain suits and whistles.
